About the Role

Your new company is seeking a skilled Maintenance Handy Person to join their team in Birmingham. As a supplier to the HM Prison Service, this role offers a unique opportunity to work in a dynamic and challenging environment.

Key Responsibilities
  • Carry out reactive repairs and planned preventative maintenance tasks
  • Assist other trades and complete general tasks such as putting up signage, painting, and carpentry duties
  • Conduct fire alarm and emergency lighting checks
Requirements
  • Previous experience in a prison or public sector is not required, but security consciousness and ability to challenge potential compromises and risks are essential
  • Reliability, consistency, level-headedness, and exceptional interpersonal skills are also required
  • Full training on working within a prison is provided by the establishment/department
Security Clearance

All applicants will be subject to the HM Prison Service Security Clearance procedure, which can take up to 4 weeks. This includes a Disclosure Barring Service (DBS) check. You must hold a Valid Passport or Birth Certificate & Photo Driving Licence at your current address.
