In this role, you will be responsible for maintaining technical oversight of the design and supply chain, ensuring that safety case requirements are captured and fulfilled during the design, procurement, manufacturing, construction, and commissioning of the plant.

You will conduct technical reviews and approve design documentation from designers and equipment suppliers, while also maintaining oversight to ensure that safety case requirements are integrated into the design and can be clearly traced throughout the process.

Ensuring compliance with relevant codes and standards, you will verify that plants meet design specifications, and provide technical guidance to junior engineers within the team and contribute to managing risks and identifying opportunities.

Developing strong relationships with internal and external stakeholders, including interactions with the ONR, will be crucial in this role.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Acting as the primary point of contact for the Programme Team
  • Conducting technical reviews and approving design documentation
  • Maintaining oversight of safety case requirements
  • Ensuring compliance with relevant codes and standards
  • Providing technical guidance to junior engineers
  • Contributing to managing risks and identifying opportunities

Requirements:

  • Degree or equivalent experience in Mechanical Engineering
  • Experience working within a project environment, including managing contractual aspects
  • Understanding of Safety Case requirements and how they are applied throughout the project life cycle
  • Knowledge of equipment design and manufacturing processes
  • Excellent communication skills
  • Understanding of Nuclear Power Station design, with familiarity with PWR or EPR systems a bonus
