Job Title: SEMH Teacher

We are seeking a dedicated and passionate teacher to join our team as a SEMH Teacher for a maternity cover role. The successful candidate will be responsible for teaching a core subject to secondary-aged students with Social, Emotional, and Mental Health (SEMH) needs.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Teach a core subject (Maths, English, or Science) to secondary-aged students with SEMH needs.
  • Develop and deliver engaging lessons tailored to meet the unique needs of students with SEMH and challenging behaviour.
  • Create a positive, inclusive, and nurturing learning environment where students can thrive academically and emotionally.
  • Implement strategies to support positive behaviour and promote social and emotional development.
  • Collaborate with the wider school team, including support staff and SEN specialists, to ensure all students receive the individualised care and attention they need.
  • Monitor and assess student progress, adjusting teaching methods to meet their evolving needs.
Essential Requirements:
  • Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) with experience teaching at secondary level.
  • Strong classroom management skills and the ability to maintain high expectations for behaviour and learning.
  • Experience or a genuine interest in working with students with SEMH needs and challenging behaviour.
  • Adaptability, resilience, and patience in a demanding but highly rewarding teaching environment.
  • The ability to work collaboratively with a multidisciplinary team to support the holistic development of each student.
