Workshop Support Specialist
We are seeking a skilled Workshop Support Specialist to join our team at the Manufacturing Technology Centre (MTC). The successful candidate will be responsible for ensuring the smooth day-to-day operation of our training workshop, located in Coventry.
The key responsibilities of this role include:
- Conducting regular maintenance checks on workshop equipment to prevent breakdowns and ensure optimal performance.
- Ensuring compliance with Health and Safety standards and quality protocols.
- Collaborating with workshop training staff to deliver high-quality training programs for apprentices and commercial clients.
- Supporting the management of workshop resources, including the ordering of equipment and materials.
- Liaising with the MTC workshop team to maintain equipment to the required standard.
- Responding to equipment breakdowns and implementing corrective actions to minimize downtime.
- Monitoring the learning environment and learner workplace Health, Safety, and welfare to internal and external standards.
Requirements
We are looking for a candidate with:
- Manufacturing engineering experience.
- Knowledge of generic engineering operations.
- Experience in maintaining engineering machinery.
- Past experience working in an engineering environment, including milling, turning, and CNC operations.
- General workshop Health and Safety understanding.
- Knowledge of 5S and Lean manufacturing principles to identify and implement efficiency improvements.
In addition:
- Excellent attention to detail and accuracy, with good numeracy skills and confidence working with numbers and data.
- An organized and methodical approach to work, with a focus on meeting deadlines.
- Effective time management and resource allocation skills.
- A commitment to setting high standards for quality and quantity.
- A team player with the ability to work independently.
- Travel to and support the MTC's Oxford site, as required.
