About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Senior Staff Nurse to join our team in the orthopaedic pre-operative assessment clinic at Woodend Hospital. The successful candidate will be responsible for pre-assessing patients awaiting elective surgery, working collaboratively with a multidisciplinary team.

Key Responsibilities
  • Pre-assess patients for elective surgery, gathering relevant medical information and conducting risk assessments
  • Work closely with the surgical team to ensure smooth patient flow and effective communication
  • Mentor and support junior staff members, promoting a culture of continuous learning and improvement
  • Contribute to the development and implementation of new policies and procedures, enhancing patient care and outcomes
Requirements and Qualifications

To be successful in this role, you will require:

  • A minimum of 2 years' experience as a Band 6 Senior Staff Nurse in an acute sector environment
  • Demonstrated expertise in pre-operative assessment, with a strong understanding of patient safety and risk management principles
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively with patients, families, and healthcare professionals
  • A passion for teaching and mentoring, with a commitment to developing the skills and knowledge of junior staff members

Salary and Benefits
