Job Overview


The Great Ormond Street Hospital seeks a highly skilled and experienced Outpatient Services Manager to oversee the operational running of our Outpatients reception. The successful candidate will work closely with the Assistant Service Manager and another Team Leader to ensure an excellent service is provided to patients at all times.


This role requires strong leadership skills, excellent communication abilities, and a good knowledge of NHS waiting time targets and patient administration systems. The post holder must be able to deal with complaints, sensitive situations, and competing priorities while supporting staff in their duties.



Main Responsibilities

Key Responsibilities:

  • Line management of a reception team across different outpatient areas, including delegating tasks, monitoring work, and conducting regular 1:1 meetings and PDRs with staff members.
  • To ensure staff adhere to the Trust Values at all times.
  • To be responsible for staff inductions and training, monitoring the process, and making necessary amendments.
  • To ensure all mandatory training is completed and understood by all staff.
  • To work with the other Team Leader in running team meetings and monitoring staff and team performance.
  • To support the Assistant Service Manager in the recruitment process.


Requirements

Essential Criteria:

  • Experience of working as part of a diverse team and contributing to an inclusive workplace culture.
  • GCSE or equivalent in Maths and English.
  • Evidence of professional development within the last 2 years.
  • Experience of working in an administrative, customer, or patient-focused role.
  • Experience of working within an operational NHS environment.
  • Knowledge of NHS policy, including referral to treatment targets.
  • Experience of communicating with individuals and groups at different levels of seniority.
  • Experience in supervising teams and rota management.
  • Experience of absence management, performance, disciplinary, grievances, and PDR's.


Desirable Criteria:

  • Business Admin NVQ Level 4 or equivalent award.
  • Ability to identify service improvement opportunities.


Salary: £50,000 - £65,000 per annum, depending on experience.
