Trainee Advanced Practitioner in Breast Imaging

We are seeking a qualified Mammographer to join our team and contribute to our commitment to providing patient care. This is a training post aimed at developing into an Advanced Practitioner in Image Interpretation for the NHS Breast Screening Programme, Surveillance, and Family History Programme.

We are a centre that is actively involved in clinical trials and have successfully secured Tomosynthesis along with Contrast Enhanced Digital Mammography.

Main Duties of the Job

The Trainee Advanced Practitioner will work towards becoming an independent, accountable practitioner working on their own initiative, with the ability to make clinical judgements/decisions using knowledge, skills, and experience developed.

They will fulfil a senior role in the breast team with the autonomy to initiate action based on their interpretation of policies/guidelines seeking advice if required.

The post holder will provide a high-quality and responsive breast imaging service as part of a multi-disciplinary team, whilst maintaining and monitoring performance as set out by the NHSBSP to enable standards to be met.

Person Specification

Training and Qualifications:

  • Diploma of the College of Radiographers/BSc in Radiography
  • UK NHS Breast Screening Programme Certificate of Competency/Postgraduate award in mammographic practice
  • Health and Care Professional Council (HCPC) registered
  • Certificate competency of IV injections
  • Leadership course
Experience

Minimum 3 years qualified experience working in NHS Breast Screening Programme service

Expert practitioner and knowledge in mammography and positioning techniques

Extensive knowledge of QA and troubleshooting

Evidence in managing training and managing change in service delivery

Communication and Relationship Skills

Evidence of clear written and oral communication

Evidence of ability to build working relationships with people at all levels

Evidence to work within and supervise a team

Planning and Organisation Skills

Evidence of able to prioritise and manage workload

Evidence of working under pressure and adapt

Evidence/ability to develop protocols for use in Breast Imaging

Disclosure and Barring Service Check
