With Viasat, you'll have the opportunity to lead a small team of safety engineering specialists in shaping the future of Aviation & Maritime Safety communication systems. Our ideal candidate will possess a deep understanding of ICAO and aviation industry standards, as well as experience in developing next-generation safety services.

The successful candidate will be responsible for leading the evolution of our SwiftBroadband Safety infrastructure, working closely with industry partners within the Iris consortium, including aircraft manufacturers, avionics suppliers, and air traffic communication service providers.

This role requires strong technical direction, with a focus on standardisation, system design, and development. The ideal candidate will have excellent leadership skills, with experience in managing cross-functional teams and driving projects from concept to delivery.

  • Lead ICAO and aviation industry standardisation efforts
  • Compile system design requirements for new safety service developments
  • Develop system concepts and architectures
  • Build detailed design specifications and supplier Statements of Work
  • Define technical solutions, costs, and benefits for internal cases
  • Manage suppliers for implementation, verification, and organisational change
  • Develop operational models for planning service introduction readiness

A degree in Electrical or Electronic Engineering, Computer Science, or Communications is essential, along with 5+ years of relevant professional experience. Desirable skills include knowledge of networking technology, IT security practices, and software development techniques.
