Job Title: Microbiology Technician

Advanced Medical Solutions is seeking a highly skilled Microbiology Technician to join our team at our Winsford site. As a Microbiology Technician, you will play a critical role in ensuring the quality and safety of our products by conducting environmental monitoring, bioburden testing, and sterility testing in our cleanrooms and controlled manufacturing areas.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Conduct environmental monitoring of cleanrooms and controlled manufacturing areas to ensure aseptic conditions.
  • Request and book bioburden samples according to sampling plans.
  • Perform bioburden product testing to support the manufacturing process in a timely manner.
  • Conduct bioburden validation for new product development.
  • Prepare in-house media and diluents.
  • Perform sterility and fertility testing on prepared media.
  • Maintain bacterial and yeast cultures.
  • Perform break integrity monitoring when required, both within and outside working hours.
  • Collect and test water samples.
  • Prepare and execute validation protocols and reports as needed.
  • Promote and uphold quality and microbiology requirements within production and other departments.
  • Maintain laboratory housekeeping and wash glassware.
  • Be cross-trained to work in Quality Control when required.
  • Ensure all testing is conducted in accordance with laboratory standard operating procedures.
  • Ensure all generated data is trended and stored electronically, with all necessary information for accurate interpretation.
  • Identify and enumerate microorganisms using Gram stain, microscopy, and biochemical tests.
  • Work with and handle class 1 and 2 strains of bacteria aseptically.
  • Order and restock consumables for all microbiology testing.
Requirements:
  • HNC in Applied Biology or relevant subject.
  • Previous microbiology laboratory experience in a working environment is essential.
  • Experience with environmental monitoring of cleanrooms.
  • Bioburden testing experience, including membrane filtration and pour plate methods.
  • Water testing experience.
  • Good microbiological and aseptic techniques.
  • Familiarity with Gram staining technique.
  • Familiarity with biochemical kits.
  • Excellent organizational skills.
  • Ability to operate relevant testing instruments.
  • Ability to analyze test results and present a report.
  • Basic computer literacy, including familiarity with Microsoft Word and Microsoft Excel.
  • Ability to multitask and prioritize tasks.
  • Excellent problem-solving skills.
  • Flexibility in working hours to meet business needs.
