About the Role

This is a unique opportunity to work with a talented team of professionals who share your passion for pharmacovigilance. As our Pharmacovigilance Expert Lead, you will be responsible for shaping policy and providing authoritative advice on post-authorisation surveillance of veterinary medicines.

Working closely with senior grades and Ministers, you will set the strategic direction for the management and implementation of Pharmacovigilance across the UK. Your expertise will help maintain a well-trained and motivated workforce, ensuring that safe and efficacious veterinary medicines are available in Great Britain and Northern Ireland.

Key Responsibilities
  • Develop and implement effective risk mitigation measures to maintain the positive benefit:risk conclusion of authorised products.
  • Lead a team of staff, including a PhV Inspector, to ensure a comprehensive system is in place for detecting and monitoring signals across the product life cycle.
  • Represent the VMD at national and international events, engaging with various networks, industry representative bodies, and individual pharmaceutical companies.
  • Analyse information, report on outcomes, and make recommendations to VMD senior managers.
  • Implement enhanced PhV electronic IT systems and databases, revise reporting methods, and improve ways of working to maximise operational effectiveness.
Requirements

To succeed in this role, you will need:

  • A good understanding of regulatory frameworks, legislation, and Pharmacovigilance principles.
  • Experience in developing business relationships, providing strategic leadership, and managing key business processes.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to communicate complex information effectively.
  • Proven experience in leading change, managing conflicting priorities, and delivering results in a fast-paced environment.
