Senior Mechanical Design Engineer Job Description

**Role Summary**

We are seeking a highly skilled Senior Mechanical Design Engineer to join our team in Bognor Regis. The successful candidate will have a strong background in mechanical engineering, excellent problem-solving skills, and a positive attitude.

**Key Responsibilities**

* Design and develop products from concept to production, with a focus on R&D and prototyping
* Manage the product portfolio, sustain documentation, and take charge of continuous development
* Use CAD for concept design and produce technical drawings
* Design for welded and fabricated sheet metal parts
* Create component and assembly models to satisfy customer requirements
* Liaise with manufacturing providers
* Be involved in final assembly of products
* Create the required documentation for design as well as project reports and plans
* Update 3D models and drawings
* Input parts into the MRP system creating BOMs
* Check drawings for sign off

**Requirements**

* At least 3 years' experience in a similar Mechanical Engineering position
* Excellent problem-solving skills, with a positive and energetic attitude
* Degree/HNC/HND/BTEC/NVQ qualified in Mechanical Engineering or similar
* Knowledge of manufacturing processes including sheet metal, fabrication, welded parts, and machining
* Proficient using 3D CAD software such as SolidWorks, Inventor, Creo, etc.
* Knowledge of a variety of materials – sheet metal, injection moulded plastics, etc.
* Good theoretical mechanical engineering knowledge of core principles and tight tolerances
* Excellent communication skills both verbal and written
* Proficient using MS Office
* Excellent organisational skills and time management skills
* Strong leadership skills with the ability to mentor junior team members
* Ability to work well alone as well as part of a small multi-disciplinary team
