Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled Senior Financial Accountant to join our Finance and Corporate Services Directorate at Transport Scotland. This is a key role that will provide statutory reporting and technical accounting advice to support Scotland\u2019s transport services, initiatives, infrastructure, and policy.

Key Responsibilities

  1. Lead the production of the Annual Report and Accounts, coordinating with stakeholders to ensure timely and accurate delivery.
  2. Provide financial management and technical accounting advice to support the business, including asset valuations, non-current assets, VAT, and lease treatments.
  3. Support a robust financial control environment, including fraud and risk mitigation, and address internal audit findings.
  4. Build and maintain key relationships with senior managers and stakeholders, developing trust and rapport.
  5. Contribute to the Finance team\u2019s continuous improvement work stream, ensuring readiness for new Scottish Government Shared Service systems provision.

Requirements

  • CCAB qualified with up-to-date CPD.
  • Strong finance experience, with the ability to provide high-quality advice to a wide range of Civil Servants and stakeholders.
  • Highly effective management, communication, and interpersonal skills, with the ability to influence, negotiate, and collaborate effectively.
  • Strong background in financial accounting, finance business partnering, or management accounting, with experience of supporting and challenging partners.
