We are seeking a dedicated and experienced Teacher of English to join our team at Catch22. As a Teacher of English, you will be responsible for teaching KS3 and KS4 students in a small group setting, providing individualized lessons to meet the needs of all learners.

The ideal candidate will have a recognized higher qualification in teaching and significant experience in planning and delivering lessons. You will also have a clear understanding of the National Curriculum and its application, as well as a robust knowledge of behavioral techniques and theories.

As a Teacher at Catch22, you will be part of a small but effective team where communication and professionalism are paramount. You will be required to teach, produce schemes of work and lesson plans, and build rapport with students, families, and carers. You will also need to liaise with various agencies to problem-solve student issues and barriers to learning.

The main accountabilities of this role include:

  • Creating an inspirational learning environment with high expectations of learner achievement, success, and progression.
  • Planning, producing, and updating schemes of work to meet curriculum, inspection, and accreditation requirements.
  • Developing learning resources and learning routes that meet learner needs and the requirements of Catch22 and commissioner requirements.
  • Preparing lessons for off-site students for support staff to deliver.
  • Supporting and guiding learners so that they can reflect on their learning, identify the progress they have made, and set positive targets for improvement.
  • Maintaining good order and discipline among the students, safeguarding their wellbeing.
  • Building effective and supporting relationships with students and families/carers; embedding that trust and support within the education process. Liaising with outside agencies as appropriate.
  • Undertaking relevant administrative tasks associated with the teaching function, including examination/accreditation entries for learners, register taking, and invigilation.

As a Teacher at Catch22, you will be expected to act as a role model, championing the company's vision and values. You will also be required to comply with Catch22 policies and procedures, including safeguarding, child protection, health and safety, data protection, and confidentiality.

We are looking for someone with the following qualifications, skills, and experience:

  • A recognized higher qualification with significant experience of teaching and planning, with a willingness to work towards QTS.
  • Experience of working with our cohort of young people, including those with complex, high behavior, and additional learning needs.
  • Extensive behavior management experience with students who have complex needs and extreme behavior.
  • Previous experience in teaching KS3 and KS4.
  • A clear understanding of the National Curriculum and its application.
  • A robust knowledge of behavioral techniques and theories and their application.
  • Knowledge of the statutory requirements of equal opportunities, discrimination, health and safety, safeguarding, and child protection.
  • A sound knowledge of planning and assessment techniques.
  • An extensive knowledge and understanding of how to use and adapt a range of teaching, learning, and behavior management strategies, including how to personalize learning to provide opportunities for all learners to achieve their potential.
