About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled Freelance Interpreter to join our team of linguists, providing interpreting services for various settings such as the NHS, Local Authorities, Police, Probation and other public and private organisations in North Yorkshire.

Job Description:

The successful candidate will be responsible for listening to, understanding and memorizing content in the source language, then reproducing the speech into the target language with 100% accuracy. This may involve face-to-face, telephone or video interpreting, depending on the specific job requirements.

As a Freelance Interpreter, you will have the opportunity to work on a wide range of assignments, including court proceedings, business meetings and medical consultations. You will also have the flexibility to choose when and how much you work, making this a great opportunity for those who value their independence.

Your duties will include:

  • Interpreting for individuals using legal, health and local government services
  • Checking the non-English speakers understanding after each sentence
  • Conference, consecutive and public service interpreting
  • Dealing with highly confidential information
  • Liaising between the service user and service provider
Requirements:

To be considered for this role, you must possess:

  • Fluent English language skills and proficiency in another language
  • The right to work in the UK
  • Aged 21 or over
  • Formal qualifications in Public Service Interpreting, Translation or Languages (advantageous)

Compensation:

The estimated annual salary for this role is £28,000 - £40,000, depending on experience and qualifications. As a Freelance Interpreter, you will have the opportunity to earn more by choosing to take on additional assignments and projects.
