The Buyer position is crucial for overseeing the acquisition and management of inventory efficiently and effectively. The Buyer will play a pivotal role in influencing purchasing decisions to secure optimal terms concerning quality, cost, and delivery, directly contributing to the Procurement strategy and departmental objectives.

Performance Objectives:

  • Aim for a 2% reduction in overall purchase costs.
  • Maintain a Vendor On-Time Delivery rate above 90%.
  • Ensure kits are delivered On Time In Full (OTIF) at a rate exceeding 99%.

Key Responsibilities:

Communication:

  • Develop and sustain supplier relationships, ensuring clear communication regarding daily procurement activities.
  • Collaborate with the broader Procurement Planning team to make informed buying decisions aligned with the strategic goals.
  • Engage with internal stakeholders as necessary when making supply chain choices.
  • Escalate unresolved issues to the Procurement Manager.

Quality Assurance:

  • Keep the Business Control system updated with accurate and relevant information.
  • Monitor daily demand reports to ensure timely order placements based on Minimum Order Quantity (MOQ), Minimum Order Value (MOV), and lead time considerations.
  • Establish and update safety stock levels in line with current and forecasted demand to ensure uninterrupted supply.
  • Collaborate with the Non-Conformance Report team to address supplier quality issues and implement corrective actions.

Cost Management:

  • Negotiate with current and potential suppliers to achieve cost reductions.
  • Challenge and defer supplier price increases through effective negotiation.
  • Identify strategies to enhance purchasing power with selected suppliers for better terms and potential cost savings.
  • Ensure payment terms align with or exceed standard practices with all suppliers.
  • Negotiate advantageous terms, including discounts and rebate agreements.
  • Manage expenditure to minimize stock levels and reduce obsolescence.
  • Work closely with the commercial team to track pricing variations and communicate them to customers.

Delivery Management:

  • Oversee open demand to meet delivery targets.
  • Manage supplier commitments based on requested and promised delivery dates in line with Procurement objectives.
  • Classify suppliers using ABC analysis for effective management.
  • Conduct regular reviews of high-value and long-lead suppliers to ensure order compliance.
  • Engage in bi-weekly meetings for moderate value suppliers to assess order status and lead times.
  • Monitor low-value suppliers with shorter lead times to ensure timely order fulfillment.
  • Address any discrepancies through appropriate escalation channels.
  • Work with suppliers to negotiate lead time reductions through Service Level Agreements (SLAs) and blanket orders.
  • Enhance stock turnover by implementing inventory management tools such as Vendor Managed Inventory (VMI) and Kanban systems.
  • Provide suppliers with updated forecasts and anticipated demand to prepare the supply chain for order placements.

Team Collaboration:

  • Foster collaborative relationships with both internal and external stakeholders.
  • Participate in training and team-building initiatives to encourage cross-functional cooperation.
  • Support project work as needed.
  • Exemplify core company values in all interactions.

Working Hours:

  • Monday to Thursday: 8:00 AM - 5:15 PM
  • Friday: 8:00 AM - 12:00 PM
