Job Description

The Yellow Brick Road Early Years Centre is seeking a skilled and dedicated Kitchen Operations Specialist to join our team on a part-time, fixed-term contract basis. As the ideal candidate for this role, you will have a strong understanding of food safety and hygiene practices, with the ability to prepare high-quality meals in a fast-paced kitchen environment.

About the Role

This 12-month contract offers the successful applicant an opportunity to work as part of our Nursery team, covering maternity leave. The successful candidate will be responsible for preparing and cooking lunches and dinners, adhering to established recipes and ensuring all food is prepared in compliance with food safety regulations and hygiene standards.

Key Responsibilities

  • Prepare and cook high-quality meals according to established recipes.
  • Maintain cleanliness and organisation of the kitchen area, including equipment and utensils.
  • Assist in planning and preparation of meals, including portion control.
  • Ensure adherence to health and safety guidelines while working in the kitchen.
  • Clear up and clean lunch tables in each of our 3 Nursery rooms, and wash all dishes.

Requirements and Qualifications

  • Proven experience as a Cook would be preferred.
  • Availability to work 9:30am to 1:30pm, Monday to Friday.
  • Strong knowledge of food safety practices.
  • Ability to work efficiently during busy times.
  • Good time management skills and the ability to multitask effectively.
  • A passion for cooking.
  • Good communication skills and the ability to work well within a team environment.

Salary and Benefits

  • £12.00 per hour.
  • 20 hours per week.
  • Part-time, fixed-term contract.
  • Fixed-term contract duration: 12 months.
