About the Role:

We're seeking a skilled Data/BI Engineer to collaborate with our IT department and contribute to the organisation's ambitious goals. To achieve this, we need high-quality data and the ability to process it at scale.

The successful candidate will be part of a team of data engineers using SQL Server and AWS to create data sources for reporting and analytics. They will design and implement data models, integrate new data into the environment, and maintain the data platform.

Our platform is built on MS SQL Server, but we're expanding our use of AWS services such as Athena, Glue, and Sage Maker.

The Data/BI Engineer will play a crucial role in our business, providing valuable insights that inform our decision-making.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Collaborate with the Data Product Owner to scope, plan, and estimate new data processing needs.
  • Develop data pipelines (SQL/SSIS/AWS Glue/Athena) to ingest data from internal/external data stores and transform it as needed.
  • Have strong experience with Microsoft SQL Server databases and SSIS.
  • Have strong T-SQL knowledge and be able to debug, optimise, and performance tune existing complex SQL Server procedures/functions.
  • Work with business users to clarify requirements.
  • Integrate data from our systems into our data warehouse to produce our 'source of truth' for all reporting and analysis.
  • Have a solid understanding of cloud data pipeline tools (AWS preferred), architecture, big data systems, and how to scale these to process high data volume/velocity.
  • Be passionate about data quality and the service we provide through data to our customers.

  • Strong analytical & problem-solving skills.
  • AWS (Glue, Lambda, Redshift, Athena)
  • Experience in big data technologies would be great.
