Structural Engineer Position Overview

Bennett and Game Recruitment LTD is seeking an experienced Structural Engineer to join their team in Hemel Hampstead. The ideal candidate will have a degree in Structural or Civil Engineering and be working towards Chartered status.

The successful Structural Engineer will have a minimum of 4 years' post-qualification experience in structural design and be capable of preparing structural designs in all conventional materials. They will also have experience in refurbishment projects and be able to provide advice to clients on design options.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Work on a wide range of interesting projects
  • Mentor and help junior engineers and technicians
  • Prepare an outline brief, visit site, review information including planning history and services
  • See project through from inception to completion
  • Prepare technical details for Architectural design and prepare technical specifications
  • Liaise and attend meetings with Architects, clients, subcontractors and other professionals
  • Represent the business, in a professional and courteous way
  • Assessing the sustainability and environmental impact of projects
  • Making sure the project complies with statutory requirements
  • Complying to Health and Safety and CDM regs

Requirements:

  • Degree in Structural or Civil Engineering
  • Working towards Chartered status
  • Minimum of 4 years'+ post-qualification experience in structural design
  • Capability to prepare structural designs in all conventional materials
  • Experience in refurbishment projects
  • Have a global view of structural design on a project, identifying potential problems and solutions and providing advice to clients on design options
  • Talent to prepare schematic structural designs based on basic architectural layouts
  • An ability to write clear and concise reports
