Job Opportunity: Laboratory Robotics Support Engineer

We are seeking a skilled Laboratory Robotics Support Engineer to join our team at Labman Automation Ltd. in Liverpool. As a key member of our team, you will be responsible for providing technical support and maintenance for our bespoke laboratory automation systems.

The ideal candidate will have a strong background in mechanical, electrical, or mechatronics engineering, with experience in troubleshooting and repairing complex electro-mechanical systems. You will work closely with our team to ensure the smooth operation of our systems and provide excellent customer service.

Key responsibilities will include:

  • Performing scheduled preventative maintenance and planned improvements on our laboratory automation systems.
  • Responding to system breakdowns and loss of performance, and providing technical support both on-site and remotely.
  • Fault finding and problem-solving with support from specialist teams.
  • Logging and documenting all support work according to internal guidelines.
  • Identifying upgrades and improvements of customer systems.
  • Collaborating professionally with customers to build on Labman's reputation.
  • Working with a highly talented multifunctional team.
  • Embodying Labman values and behaviours.

Key Requirements:

  • Knowledge and appreciation of science and technology.
  • Degree or apprenticeship in mechanical, electrical, mechatronics, robotics, software, or similar/applicable work-based experience.
  • Strong problem-solving and fault-finding skills, including decision making, clear communication, research, and analysis skills.
  • Competent in IT and Microsoft Teams, Excel, Word.
  • Able to commute daily to the Materials Innovation Factory, Liverpool.
  • Willing to travel to Labman HQ in North Yorkshire for training and development.
  • Ability to work independently, take initiative, and prioritize work.
  • Works well within a team, both in person and remotely.
  • Customer-oriented and positive attitude.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Driving license.

Desirable Skills/Experience:

  • Experience in a customer-facing role.
  • Electromechanical system diagnostics experience.
  • CAD experience.
