Job Title: Manufacturing Engineer - Rail Rolling Stock

Shorterm Group is seeking a highly skilled Manufacturing Engineer to join their team in County Durham. As a key member of the manufacturing engineering team, you will be responsible for supporting the manufacturing processes scope from inception to delivery.

Key Responsibilities:
  1. Review technical design drawings and specifications to ensure compliance with industry standards.
  2. Develop and maintain Bills of Materials (BOMs) and Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) to ensure efficient production processes.
  3. Collaborate with the manufacturing team to identify areas for improvement and implement changes to workstation layouts and storage areas.
  4. Evaluate production tools and equipment to ensure they meet industry standards and are properly maintained.
  5. Develop business cases for capital expenditure projects to improve manufacturing efficiency and productivity.
  6. Design and acquire jigs and fixtures to support manufacturing processes.
  7. Provide technical support to staff to ensure technical specifications are met and all manufacturing competencies are achieved.
  8. Implement design changes and manage change notices to ensure smooth production processes.
  9. Mentor and train junior engineers to develop their skills and knowledge.
Requirements:
  1. A strong background in manufacturing/production engineering is essential.
  2. A HNC qualification or above in an engineering discipline is required.
  3. Experience with SAP systems is advantageous.
  4. Understanding of welding procedures and processes is necessary.
