Head of Financial Lines Technical Underwriting Lead

Aviva is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Head of Financial Lines Technical Underwriting to join our team in London. As a key member of our Commercial Lines team, you will be responsible for setting the underwriting strategy for our Financial Lines classes and driving business growth.
About the Role:This is a newly created key role reporting to the Chief Underwriting Officer, Commercial Lines. You will work closely with our senior leadership team to deliver our ambitious growth targets for the business. As a leader, you will inspire and motivate a team of around six FTEs, fostering an inclusive culture and promoting a mindset of innovation and excellence.
Key Responsibilities:- Develop and implement the underwriting strategy for our Financial Lines classes across Commercial Lines
- Own the underwriting authority delegation to CL underwriters across Financial Lines classes, ensuring clear understanding and fit for purpose
- Ensure the effective operation of control frameworks to ensure underwriters work within their Underwriting authorities
- Define the CL Underwriting Risk Appetite in the context of the CL P&L pertaining to Financial Lines classes
- Responsible for the creation and maintenance of technical underwriting guidance for Financial Lines classes
- Work with the Reinsurance team to place our reinsurance treaties
- First-class Financial Lines underwriting, product, and pricing knowledge
- Understanding of risks faced by a Commercial Lines business and the controls to manage and mitigate the risks with a particular emphasis on insured perils
- Involvement in projects involving regulation and legislation
- Strong Reinsurance experience and understanding of aggregation of risk and capital
