Job Summary:

We are seeking a compassionate and patient Support Worker to join our team at Disability North. The successful candidate will provide support to a child with special needs, enabling them to participate in daily activities and develop their social and independence skills.

Main Responsibilities:

  • Support the child in their daily routine, including meal times, bath times, and sleep times.
  • Assist the child in developing their social and independence skills, such as playing in the park, visiting shops, and participating in activities with support groups.
  • Provide general housekeeping and ensure the child's safety at all times.

Person Specification:

  • Excellent communication skills and the ability to understand non-verbal cues.
  • A positive attitude towards disability and a willingness to learn.
  • Flexibility, reliability, and punctuality.
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality and respect the child's and their family's privacy and dignity.

Essential Requirements:

  • Permission to work in the UK.
  • Able to accept responsibility and respond appropriately in an emergency.

Preferred Requirements:

  • Experience in providing support to children with special needs.
