Adult Education Instructor

Job Summary: We are seeking an experienced Adult Education Teacher to provide quality instruction to adult student inmates at the Central Virginia Correctional Unit.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop and implement effective lesson plans to meet the needs of adult students in basic adult education and GED standards.
  • Provide individual and group instruction to adult student inmates, promoting academic achievement and personal growth.
  • Maintain accurate records and submit timely reports, ensuring compliance with Department of Corrections regulations.
  • Supervise aides and students in a classroom setting, fostering a positive and productive learning environment.

Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university in Adult Education or a relevant educational field.
  • Experience teaching adults and/or youth, with knowledge and experience of policy and procedure governing adult education.
  • Ability to work with adult inmates in a classroom/lab environment, facilitating effective instruction and student engagement.
  • Demonstrated ability to supervise students and aides in a classroom setting, maintaining accurate records and reports.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Master's degree with a major or minor in a relevant educational field.
  • Experience teaching adults and/or youth in a correctional or alternative education setting.
