About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Trust and Tax Manager to join our team at Hays Specialist Recruitment Limited. As a key member of our team, you will be responsible for overseeing the timely preparation of trust accounts and tax returns, including inheritance tax returns, and dealing with HM Revenue and Customs as required.

Key Responsibilities
  • Oversee and contribute to the timely preparation of trust accounts and tax returns
  • Deal with HM Revenue and Customs as required
  • Calculate trustees' liabilities to IHT, CGT and Income Tax
  • Manage client relationships and engage with all stakeholders involved
  • Prepare and attend trustee's meetings
  • Activate investment reviews and monitor the performance of investments
  • Prepare and review investment policy statements
  • Manage relationships with beneficiaries and draft deeds and associated policies
  • Review and interpret trust deeds and related documentation
  • Delegate and supervise the work of junior team members
Requirements

To be considered for this role, you will need:

  • Experience in a similar position
  • Understanding of trust accounts, taxation of trusts, income tax, and experience with computerised accounts and Trust/Tax software
  • Proactive team player with excellent team working skills and ability to collaborate with colleagues of all levels
  • Ability to build rapport with clients and develop effective working relationships
  • Good legal and commercial understanding of clients' needs
  • Strong problem-solving skills
