About the Role

University Hospitals Sussex NHS Foundation Trust is seeking a skilled and compassionate Registered General Adult Nurse to join our team in General Surgery. This is an exciting opportunity for a motivated individual to work on Chiltington ward, which has an enhanced surgical care unit (ESCU) providing level 1 care for acutely ill surgical patients.

Key Responsibilities

  • Review patients on admission, ensuring timely access to investigations, referrals, and assessments, and informing relevant personnel.
  • Undertake clinical competencies relevant to the nursing role.
  • Support staff in managing challenging patients, families, or situations.
  • Deal sensitively with anxious or aggressive patients and their relatives/carers.
  • Communicate unwelcome news to patients and their relatives/carers regarding diagnosis and potential recovery.
