Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled Bioprocessing Specialist to join our team in Hackney Wick. As a key member of our bioprocessing team, you will be responsible for executing precision fermentation runs using equipment such as shake flasks and bioreactors. You will work closely with our downstream processing scientists to ensure the highest quality of our products.

Responsibilities

• Execute precision fermentation runs using shake flasks and bioreactors (up to 30L)
• Develop and maintain data reports, batch records, and SOPs on digital filing systems and hard copy lab-notebooks
• Collaborate with downstream processing scientists and adjacent teams to ensure seamless bioprocessing
• Troubleshoot challenges and unexpected outcomes during experiments and processes
• Maintain a clean and organized lab environment
• Perform regular equipment maintenance and cleaning to ensure production capacity and quality
• Contribute to a high-performance team culture

Requirements

• Minimum 2 years of practical experience in upstream processing/fermentation of yeast strains for protein production
• Broad knowledge of microbiology and aseptic techniques
• Experience operating shake flasks and bioreactors of approximately 1-30L
• Independent in media preparation, generating and maintaining cell banks, and carrying out process QC
• Independent in methods for protein analysis, such as protein gels and Western blots

Desirable Experience

• Experience with HPLC
• Experience working with filamentous fungi
