Lead the Design of Lean Manufacturing Systems

The Role

We are seeking a highly skilled Senior Design Engineer to join our team, responsible for designing jigs and fixtures, assembly benches, and semi-automated production cells.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Attend design handover meetings for new projects.
  • Participate in design kick-off meetings with customers.
  • Design machines using SolidWorks, adhering to a set budget.
  • Organize and attend design reviews, both internal and external with customers.
  • Update designs based on review feedback.
  • Conduct design risk assessments and create safety documentation.
  • Produce detailed 2D drawings for manufacturing and assembly.
  • Create bills of materials and build folders for shop floor detailing.
  • Attend controls and software handover meetings.
  • Support build with design-related snags.
  • Design alternative solutions during machine development.
  • Prepare operation and maintenance manuals and CE-related documents.

About You

We are looking for candidates with experience in:

  • Electric actuators in pick and place mechanisms.
  • Pneumatic actuators and valves in transfer mechanisms.
  • Vacuum or mechanical grippers in transfer mechanisms.
  • Sensors for part detection and poke yoke checks.
  • 6-axis robots in gluing, ultrasonic, or vision applications.
  • Machine guarding and operator safety.

Requirements:

  • Good understanding of GD&T in custom machined parts.
  • Estimating costs of components to maintain design budgets.
  • Hazard reach distances and gaps.
  • Design risk assessment and FMEA.
