Mechanical Design Engineer

At Sanderson Government & Defence, we are seeking an experienced Mechanical Design Engineer to join our team. As a Mechanical Design Engineer, you will be responsible for delivering mechanical designs that meet safety and performance requirements.

Key Accountabilities
  1. Develop and maintain a comprehensive understanding of relevant legislative documentation and standards associated with mechanical design engineering.
  2. Ensure compliance with Company Assurance Environment, Safety, Health and Quality (ESH&Q) and statutory requirements.
  3. Collaborate with other discipline areas to ensure overall design intent is maintained throughout the lifecycle.
Key Responsibilities
  1. Design and develop mechanical engineering solutions that address defined requirements, across the full engineering lifecycle.
  2. Ensure the design intent is maintained throughout the lifecycle, liaising with other discipline areas to ensure overall design intent is maintained.
  3. Apply standards proportionately and adopt engineering best practice.
Requirements
  1. Proven experience in producing mechanical designs as part of a multi-discipline design team.
  2. Working knowledge of legislation and standards applicable to mechanical engineering.
  3. Competent in standard office software, and engineering tools and applications.
  4. Experience of working in a highly regulated environment (preferably nuclear and / or explosives).
  5. Knowledge of legislation and standards associated with nuclear and / or high hazard facilities.
  6. ONC / OND or equivalent in electrical engineering or other related discipline.
