About the Role

We are seeking a highly motivated and organized Clinical Pathway Navigator to join our team at the Royal Free London NHS Foundation Trust. As a Clinical Pathway Navigator, you will play a vital role in ensuring the smooth running of patient journeys across various specialties.

The ideal candidate will have previous experience working with the public and/or patients in a healthcare environment, as well as experience interacting with staff at all levels. You will possess excellent administrative and organizational skills, with the ability to manage and prioritize your workload effectively.

As a key member of our team, you will be responsible for coordinating administrative functions for patients from GP referral to discharge, ensuring that care pathways are followed and reducing multiple appointments across the trust.

Key Responsibilities:
  • General administrative duties for the department, including filing correspondence, results, photocopying, and distributing mail.
  • Supporting the team in answering telephone calls and dealing with enquiries in a helpful and courteous manner.
  • Processing requests from clinicians/nursing staff for clinic changes, cancellations, and creations, adhering to trust policy.
  • Responding to requests from clinicians to type up urgent letters when required.
  • Ensuring patient demographics and contact details are up-to-date on Cerner.
  • Accessing patient records using computerized tracking systems appropriately.
  • Phoning patients to provide instructions, reminders, and information where necessary.
  • Attending and participating in relevant meetings.
  • Providing patient navigation services for satellite and off-site locations.
  • Checking with Admissions on regular basis to ensure patients are added to the elective waiting list appropriately.
Requirements:
  • RSA 2 or RSA 3 word processing/typing or equivalent experience.
  • Knowledge of medical terminology.
  • English and Maths at GCSE level or equivalent.
