Job Title: Associate, Quantitative Research AnalystJob Summary

Castleton Commodities International, LLC is seeking a highly skilled Associate, Quantitative Research Analyst to provide in-depth analysis of the European energy market, with a focus on the EU power market.

The successful candidate will report directly to a senior power trader in London and be responsible for creating and maintaining fundamental supply and demand models, as well as pricing models, to support the trading team's decision-making.

Key Responsibilities
  • Perform power market research and analysis to support trading activities, with a focus on the short-term market.
  • Communicate data and findings to the research team and risk takers, exploring price and fundamentals relationships.
  • Design, develop, and improve fundamental supply and demand models, as well as power pricing models, to support trading decisions.
  • Support the power desk's proprietary analytical tools and integrate new models within the existing computer modeling infrastructure.
  • Work closely with analysts and traders to identify market opportunities and monitor market, industry, product, and pricing trends.
  • Perform ad-hoc analyses for trade ideas and other projects.
Requirements
  • PhD in Mathematics, Statistics, Physics, or a related field of study.
  • Experience in an analytical role covering European power markets is desirable.
  • Strong communication and quantitative skills, with the ability to solve loosely defined complex problems with minimal supervision.
  • Excellent computer programming skills, especially in Python, with experience in programming in an organization with a strict version control culture.
  • Ability to demonstrate a passion for markets, modeling, and the energy industry, and a dynamic approach to learning.
