About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled Associate Civil Engineer to join our team at Skilled Careers. As a key member of our infrastructure development team, you will be responsible for providing technical input into the planning process, leading and coordinating detailed design, and implementing projects during the construction phase.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Undertake strategic development planning and detailed design work, specializing in providing highways, drainage, and development infrastructure advice to private sector clients and local authorities.
  • Lead and coordinate detailed design and implement projects during the construction phase, ensuring timely and within-budget delivery.
  • Manage multiple projects and client accounts simultaneously, requiring strong time management and organizational skills.
  • Support the wider team's financial and commercial management through robust project delivery, with a focus on financial and contractual aspects of planning, bidding, and delivering projects.
  • Liaise with highways, water, statutory, and local authorities to negotiate outline and technical approvals, ensuring compliance with relevant regulations and standards.

About You

To be successful in this role, you will require:

  • Relevant qualifications (Bachelor or Masters) in Civil Engineering and Chartered status with at least 8 years of relevant experience.
  • Knowledge of legal processes, planning, design, design software, technical consents process, adoption, and contract procedures for drainage schemes, including SUDS systems and associated infrastructure.
  • Experience in technical report writing and knowledge of relevant design codes, such as Sewers for Adoption, SUDS Manual, Building Regulations, Water Industry Act, and associated guidance.
  • Ability to direct and check the use of relevant software, including MicroDrainage and AutoCAD, with a preference for experience or interest in PDS to supervise junior colleagues.
