Senior Ecologist

Key Responsibilities- Assess customer landscapes and submit ecological reports and recommendations to improve properties for nature and people.
- Implement new ways of working to continually improve ecological and environmental services.
- Advise on and deliver ecological and environmental surveying and reporting to enable customers to progress planning applications.
- Engage with ecological and environmental suppliers and partners to ensure best practice for customers.
As a Senior Ecologist, you will be embedded within the Natural Environment team. Your key responsibilities will include:
- Being conversant with key customer targets, achievements, and challenges and ensuring delivery on a service level.
- Delivering high-quality, focused reporting to managers on ecological and environmental services.
- Delivering continuous improvements into internal ecological and environmental governance processes and ensuring professional standards are met.
You will deliver ecological and environmental projects for Mitie Landscapes and our customers. You will represent the ecology team across the business, helping to raise awareness of our services to the wider Mitie Landscapes organisation.
Qualifications and Experience- Degree level or higher in an ecology or environmental subject, or other relevant qualification.
- Field-based ecology training.
- Member of, or working towards, a relevant Professional Institute (such as CIEEM).
- Minimum of 5 years' experience of working in an ecological capacity.
- 2+ survey class licenses for protected species: a Class 2 Bat survey license, and CL35 Badger license are highly desirable.
- Knowledge of the Biodiversity Net Gain process, and an ability to operate DEFRA's BNG matrix.
- Knowledge of the planning system in the context of ecology, and the ability to accurately deliver reports including some or all of the following: BNG; HRA's; PEA's; EcIA's; LEMP's.
