Research Scientist in Translational Neuro-Oncology

Job Summary: We are seeking a highly motivated Research Scientist to join our team in the Hamerlik lab at The University of Manchester. The successful candidate will be responsible for delivering a clinical validation study and developing novel tools and workflows for exploratory analyses and mechanistic studies using animal models.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Design and execute experiments to validate novel therapeutic approaches in neuro-oncology
  • Develop and implement novel tools and workflows for exploratory analyses and mechanistic studies
  • Collaborate with colleagues across cancer sciences, NHS Trusts, and international collaborators
  • Contribute to training and education activities, including attendance at courses, workshops, and conferences

Requirements:

  • PhD or equivalent in biochemistry or molecular biology
  • Relevant laboratory experience in molecular, cellular, and tumour biology
  • Demonstrable experience in defining and solving research questions

Working Arrangements:

The post holder will be based at the Paterson Research Building in Manchester. The role will be highly collaborative, involving working together with colleagues across cancer sciences, NHS Trusts, and international collaborators.

Supervision:

The project is supported by the Cancer Research UK project grant and the Brierwood family donation and will be supervised by Prof. Petra Hamerlik, Chair of Translational Neuro-Oncology at The University of Manchester.
