Job Title: Lead SEN English Teacher

Salary: MPS/UPS, Dependent on experience with SEN allowance

A specialist independent day school in Lancashire is seeking a Lead English Teacher to support students with Social, Emotional, and Mental Health (SEMH) difficulties. The role involves leading and coordinating the English curriculum, managing literacy and phonics interventions, and developing English as a key academic focus. Additional responsibilities include training staff, reporting to the Senior Leadership Team, and acting as the Careers Officer to ensure compliance with the Gatsby Benchmarks.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop and implement English curriculum to meet the needs of students with SEMH difficulties
  • Manage literacy and phonics interventions to improve student outcomes
  • Train staff on English teaching strategies and best practices
  • Report to the Senior Leadership Team on English curriculum development and student progress
  • Act as the Careers Officer to ensure compliance with the Gatsby Benchmarks

Requirements:

  • PGCE, QTS, Cert Ed, or equivalent
  • Experience in SEN, safeguarding, and managing challenging behaviors
  • Strong leadership and communication skills
  • Ability to develop and implement English curriculum to meet the needs of students with SEMH difficulties
