Job Description:

We are seeking an experienced Senior Cancer Genomics Analyst to join our team. The ideal candidate will possess a strong background in cancer genomics, with expertise in analyzing and interpreting genomic data. As a Senior Cancer Genomics Analyst, you will be responsible for leading on various cancer genome analysis projects, collaborating with external researchers and industry partners, and contributing to the development of best practices for genome analysis at Genomics England.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Produce high-quality code and contribute to the development of customized cancer genome analysis solutions.
  • Collaborate with internal and external stakeholders to ensure successful project delivery.
  • Develop and maintain robust computational pipelines for processing, analysis, and interpretation of whole genome data.
  • Evaluate and enhance tools used in genomic analysis, ensuring alignment with Genomics England accreditation requirements.
  • Conduct benchmarking exercises to optimize genomic analysis workflows and improve overall efficiency.
Requirements:

To succeed in this role, you will need:

  1. In-depth expertise in cancer genomics, including understanding tumor drivers and interpreting genomic data through targeted pathways.
  2. Proficiency in utilizing Python for efficient data processing and analysis.
  3. Hands-on experience in developing high-quality and reusable code, with a strong command of Git and CI/CD practices.
  4. The capacity to critically evaluate statistical and/or machine learning techniques and apply them in practical scenarios while interpreting results.
  5. Experience in leading a cross-functional analytical team in an academic or industry environment.
