Civil Engineering Technical Lead

We are seeking a highly skilled Steelworks Inspector to lead our team in Bolton. This is a 12-month contract with the possibility of extension on a rolling basis.

Key Details:
  • Hourly Rate: £35 (outside IR35)
  • Working Hours: 40 hours per week
  • Travel Time: 1 hour paid per day
  • Mileage Allowance: Included
  • On-Site Days: 4 days per week
  • Remote Work Day: 1 day per week for reports, technical, and drawing appraisals
Responsibilities:
  1. Conduct steelwork inspections from manufacturing to site delivery and build.
  2. Prepare technical reports.
  3. Audit project designs.
  4. Perform structural inspections on various structures.
Requirements:
  1. Civil Engineering, Structural or Surveying Degree or HNC/HND.
  2. Strong technical background and ability to demonstrate professional competency in steel work inspection.
  3. 10 years of experience working on diverse projects including superstructures and substructures.
  4. 3-5 years of experience in structural inspections and appraisals.
  5. Ability to work effectively in a team and provide guidance, support, and training as needed.

The successful candidate will be responsible for leading a team of steelwork inspectors, ensuring that all inspections are conducted thoroughly and efficiently. A strong understanding of civil engineering principles and practices is essential, along with excellent technical skills and attention to detail.

Salary and Benefits

The hourly rate for this position is £35 (outside IR35), with a weekly working hour of 40 hours. Travel time and mileage allowance are also included. In addition, the role involves 1 remote work day per week for reports, technical, and drawing appraisals.

Job Description

As a Civil Engineering Technical Lead, you will be responsible for conducting steelwork inspections, preparing technical reports, auditing project designs, and performing structural inspections on various structures. The ideal candidate will have a degree in Civil Engineering, Structural or Surveying, or equivalent qualification.

Required Skills and Qualifications

The successful candidate must have a strong technical background and ability to demonstrate professional competency in steel work inspection. At least 10 years of experience working on diverse projects, including superstructures and substructures, is required. Additionally, 3-5 years of experience in structural inspections and appraisals is necessary. Excellent leadership and teamwork skills are also essential.
