Job Title: Second Chef

We are seeking a highly skilled and motivated Second Chef to join our team at Barchester Healthcare. As a Second Chef, you will play a key role in delivering high-quality culinary services to our residents, working closely with the Head Chef to create nutritious and flavoursome menus.


Key Responsibilities:
  • Assist the Head Chef in menu development and implementation
  • Manage the kitchen in the Head Chef's absence, ensuring seamless day-to-day operations
  • Work with fresh produce to deliver high-quality and wholesome dishes, cooked to the highest standards
  • Create a warm and welcoming environment within our home, engaging with residents to create appetising and nutritious menus
  • Manage stock control and complete regular audits to ensure efficiency and quality

Requirements:
  • City & Guilds/NVQ/SVQ or equivalent qualification in culinary arts
  • Good understanding of nutrition and ability to create balanced menus
  • Experience of working with fresh seasonal food and ability to create a warm and welcoming environment
  • Confidence engaging with residents and ability to work within budget
  • Good understanding of HACCP and ability to manage kitchen operations
