About the Role:
We are seeking an experienced Transmission Systems Engineer to join our client's dynamic engineering team. The successful candidate will be responsible for designing, implementing, and maintaining transmission systems to ensure efficient and reliable communication networks.
Key Responsibilities:
- Network Assessments: Perform thorough network assessments to evaluate the current Ethernet setup and identify necessary modifications.
- BT Etherway Planning: Plan and execute BT Etherway modifications, ensuring seamless integration with existing Ethernet network components.
- Network Device Configuration: Configure network devices (Routers, Switches, Firewalls) for IPVPN connectivity, ensuring compatibility and integration with existing Ethernet network components.
- Migration Execution: Execute the migration process, including the configuration and testing of IPVPN connections.
- Tools & Systems Data Integrity: Resolve tools and systems data integrity issues.
- Operational Performance Resolution: Resolve operational performance issues (break-fix).
- Live Performance Analysis: Analyze live performance to identify faults.
- Planning Tool Requirements: Identify planning tool requirements to support the delivery of transmission solutions.
- Collaboration: Work closely with Transmission Design & Operational services function to ensure that projects are prioritized appropriately.
- Transmission Technologies: Possess significant knowledge of transmission technologies (leased line and radio) design, including Ethernet, IP technology, SDH, ATM.
- Networking Knowledge: Strong understanding of Ethernet networking, including VLANs, STP, and trunking.
- Transmission Planning Tools: Hands-on experience of transmission planning and circuit planning tools in creating transmission solutions.
- Capacity Optimization: Optimize capacity and performance of transmission networks.
- Industry Experience: Experience in a Network Operator or Managed Service Provider environment.
- Project Delivery: Demonstrable experience of project delivery on time and to customer satisfaction.
- Mobile Transmission Networks: Strong knowledge of 2G/3G/4G Mobile Transmission Networks.
