Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled Senior Commissioning Specialist to join our team in the West Midlands. As a key member of our industrial systems and engineering department, you will play a vital role in designing, manufacturing, assembling, testing, and commissioning industrial systems.

About the Role

The successful candidate will be responsible for managing a range of commissioning activities throughout the lifecycle of bespoke engineering projects. You will represent the commissioning function to customers and other departments within the organization, ensuring seamless communication and collaboration.

You will use your solid engineering knowledge to extract relevant information from specification and design documents, develop project commissioning strategies, and take ownership of assigned packages of work with pride. Your primary focus will be on delivering high-quality results within allocated timeframes and budgets.

Key Responsibilities
  • Support tendering for new projects by estimating hours required to complete expected commissioning work and outlining what is included and excluded from that estimate.
  • Create project commissioning strategies for new bespoke projects and review them to ensure implementation during the project lifecycle.
  • Develop test and commissioning documentation as needed.
  • Assess equipment readiness for commissioning and transition it from commissioning to manufacturing once in-house commissioning work is complete.
  • Prepare for and complete factory and site acceptance testing, including creating and following risk assessments.
  • Ensure test equipment availability and install temporary commissioning aids if necessary, completing all testing according to acceptance testing and site acceptance testing procedures.
  • Identify faults or non-conformities during testing, report issues using business procedures, and support in resolving issues.
  • Ensure work completion within required timeframes and communicate any deviations to the project manager, staying aware of allocated budgets.
  • Ensure test work is designed and carried out safely.
Requirements

To succeed in this role, you will need:

  • HNC qualification (or equivalent) or higher with extensive engineering workplace experience.
  • Broad base of experience operating mechanical and/or electrical equipment.
  • Appreciation of relevant standards such as BS7671 for electrical engineers.
  • Ability to adapt to situations or equipment changes.
  • Able to focus on customer needs and work with customers and stakeholders (internal and external) to meet and exceed expectations.
  • Collaborate and share knowledge.
  • Seek collective success through teamwork, knowledge, and mutual support.
  • Deliver results/focus on solutions.
  • Plan what needs to be delivered and make it happen within allocated time and budgetary constraints.

Benefits

This role offers a competitive salary range of £50,000 - £70,000 per annum, depending on experience, plus benefits. Security clearance may be required due to the nature of the products involved. Interviews will be arranged soon for this exciting opportunity.
