About the Role

Astute People is working with a leading player in the nuclear energy market to recruit a Project Engineer to support decommissioning works across a major defence project in Reading.

The Project Engineer position comes with a salary of £45,000 - £75,000 per annum, depending on experience, and would suit someone looking to work for an organisation that will develop its team and put its people at the forefront of what it does.

Responsibilities

  • Confirm client specifications between the project team and engineering disciplines, liaising across multiple business lines for successful delivery.
  • Create technical and execution documentation and deliverables.
  • Work with the supply chain to establish requirements and manage the engagement to delivery.
  • Coordinate the design requirements of the project with the design team, including drawings, tools/equipment, materials, and specific design requirements for the project lifecycle.
  • Work on forecasts for resource and labour requirements across the project, keeping records of all works taking place.
  • Liaise with Project Controls on the design schedule, risks, and report as required.
  • Ensure the projects are supported technically and controlled according to best practices, meet customer requirements, and minimise risks for the business.
  • Support the relationship with the client and all stakeholders, including third parties/vendors and internal operations teams.
  • Ensure compliance with health, safety, and environmental requirements, as well as the Project Safety Plan, at all times.
  • Ensure construction work is managed in line with safe working methods.

Requirements

  • Degree qualified or equivalent in a relevant engineering degree, ideally with a bias towards mechanical engineering.
  • Experience in the nuclear sector or any other heavy or highly regulated industries will be highly advantageous.
  • Good understanding of health and safety legislation, particularly Construction regulations, would be beneficial.
  • Successful candidates must be able to obtain the relevant security clearance levels.
