Contract OpenEdge Database Administrator

We are seeking a skilled Contract OpenEdge DBA to support our team during a busy period. As an OpenEdge DBA, you will be responsible for the day-to-day management and maintenance of Dev/Test/Production OpenEdge environments. Your tasks will include managing and monitoring database backups and data growth, refreshing QA and Dev environments, and performing database performance tuning.

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Manage and maintain OpenEdge databases, ensuring optimal performance and reliability
  2. Install, configure, and administer mission-critical OpenEdge databases
  3. Perform database performance tuning and optimization
  4. Manage and configure OpenEdge Server Instances
  5. Migrate and upgrade OpenEdge Server Instances
  6. Provide recommendations for DB configuration, software purchases, and migration paths
  7. Manage OpenEdge databases at a macro and micro level (Table, Index, Data-file, Fragmentation etc)
  8. Provide out-of-hours and on-call support

Requirements:

  1. Experience in installation, maintenance, and administration of mission-critical OpenEdge databases
  2. Experience with all aspects of OE v10, v11, and v12 database administration
  3. Experience with multi-volume databases, after imaging, type II storage areas
  4. Experience with OE Replication
  5. Experience of OpenEdge on Windows Server OS
  6. Familiarity with OpenEdge Management
  7. Development skills in OpenEdge

Desirable Skills:

  1. Strong verbal and written communication skills
  2. Skilled in multitasking and designing applications
  3. Skilled in OE installation and configuration
  4. Strong prioritization and time management skills
  5. Ability to prepare good-quality written documentation
  6. Highly motivated, career-oriented, and able to approach challenging situations in a calm, logical, and methodical manner
