We are seeking a highly motivated and collaborative Chief Public Engagement Officer to join our team at the Academy of Medical Sciences.

About the Role

This is a 12-month maternity cover position, with a desired start date in January 2025. As a key member of our public engagement team, you will play a vital role in delivering our mission to meaningfully involve patients and the public across all our activities.

You will work closely with colleagues across the Academy, our Fellows, and grant awardees to develop projects that ensure we connect with patients, carers, and members of the public in new and accessible ways. This includes organizing and evaluating programs that feed public views into our policy advice, grants, and careers programs.

Key Responsibilities
  • Building strong relationships with public and patient groups and connecting with individuals to understand and provide support for their involvement in our work.
  • Supporting the delivery of events, workshops, and training to gather public, patient, and carer views on our policy, career development, and grants programs.
  • Assisting with data collection, analysis, and reporting for program and event evaluations.
  • Making connections with people, organizations, and communities to broaden participation in our public engagement and involvement activities.
Requirements

To be successful in this role, you will need:

  • Energetic and passionate about championing diversity and inclusion across our engagement activities.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with experience working collaboratively as part of a small team.
  • Good IT and administration skills, with the ability to apply them to support projects and events.
  • The ability to write concisely and accessibly, producing resources that can be easily understood by others.
