Job Summary

University Hospital Southampton NHS Trust is seeking a highly motivated and experienced senior nurse to fill the role of Matron for Trauma and Orthopaedics. This is an exciting opportunity to lead a team of dedicated professionals and contribute to the delivery of high-quality patient care.

About the Role

The successful candidate will be responsible for driving clinical quality standards, providing inspirational leadership to the clinical team, and supporting the development of a contemporary, high-quality nursing service. This will involve working closely with the care group management team to innovate and change care pathways, and develop and deliver on workforce, financial performance, and capital strategies.

Key Responsibilities

The Matron will be responsible for:

  • Leading the clinical team to deliver high-quality patient care
  • Driving clinical quality standards and improving patient outcomes
  • Developing and implementing strategies to improve patient care and experience
  • Working closely with the care group management team to innovate and change care pathways
  • Developing and delivering on workforce, financial performance, and capital strategies

Person Specification

The successful candidate will have:

  • A 1st Level Registered nurse on the relevant part of the NMC Register / HCPC Registration
  • A First degree or equivalent
  • Masters or equivalent experience
  • Specialist qualification
  • Leadership training
  • Management training
  • Extensive knowledge of National and Local NHS and N&M agenda
  • Extensive experience in the acute healthcare setting in clinical leadership/clinical management position
  • Evidence of advanced leadership qualities
  • Formal and informal teaching experience
  • Staff and resource management experience
