About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Clinical Scientist to join our team at The Christie NHS FT as a Practice Educator - Principal Clinical Scientist. This is a unique opportunity to combine your clinical expertise with education and leadership skills to make a significant impact on the development of our team and the wider healthcare sector.

Key Responsibilities
  • Practice Education: Develop and deliver high-quality training programs for Clinical Technologists and Clinical Scientists, ensuring they meet the highest standards of education and training.
  • Radiation Protection and Radiology Physics: Provide expert scientific support in diagnostic radiology and radiation protection, including testing x-ray equipment and providing highly specialist scientific support.
  • Leadership and Management: Lead the development and implementation of training programs, manage the delivery of training activities, and supervise and manage trainees.
  • Research and Development: Identify areas for project development and provide support and supervision to BSc and MSc projects, undertaking research and service development work to improve the CMPE service and optimize radiological techniques.
Requirements
  • Qualifications: Good honours degree in an appropriate physical science, Higher degree (MSc or equivalent), State registered Clinical Scientist, and recognition as MPE and/or certificate of competence as RPA (or expected to gain one within 12 months).
  • Experience: Previous experience in our field post Clinical Scientist registration, or equivalent (minimum agreed time to gain entry-level expert competence), in-depth experience in testing x-ray equipment, and provision of highly specialist scientific support in diagnostic radiology and radiation protection.
  • Skills: Good computer skills, ability to position intricate test tools with precision, analysis and interpretation of investigations/results, problem-solving, scientific report writing, and teaching skills.
