Your new company is working in partnership with a Northern Ireland Civil and Structural Engineering consultancy company, seeking to hire a Geotechnical Engineer. The Geotechnical Engineer will be responsible for various tasks related to civil engineering projects across the UK and Ireland.

  • Conducting desktop studies and site walkover surveys.
  • Preparing contract documents, including specifications, mini Bills of Quantities (BoQs), and testing requirements for site investigations.
  • Coordinating with design teams for geotechnical design, offering options for ground improvement techniques and foundation strategies.
  • Developing project specifications, which may involve both external standard specifications and in-house specifications.
  • Performing engineering analyses, such as slope stability analysis, shallow foundation design, pile design, retaining wall design, soil nail and ground anchor design, and piling platform design.
  • Designing temporary structures for deep excavations.
  • Following company procedures in accordance with the Quality System.
  • Contributing other general civil engineering skills as needed in various sections of the company.

To be successful in this Geotechnical Engineering role, this client requires a candidate who:

  • Has a Degree in Civil/Geotechnical/Geoinformatics/Geology Engineering, preferably 2:1.
  • Has relevant experience in Geotechnical Engineering.
  • Has good technical knowledge, is proficient in the use of geotechnical analysis and design software, and has an awareness of recent developments in engineering design and research.
