Job Title: Metadata Manager

We are seeking an experienced Metadata Manager to join our team at the British Library, as part of the Europeana Sounds project. The successful candidate will have a strong background in metadata standards and experience with structured data, as well as knowledge of copyright and licensing of digital assets.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Manage one of the key project work packages: ensuring aggregation to a common standard from 18 partner institutions across Europe.
  • Target 0.75 million metadata records for digitised sound and audio-related digital objects, including those from the British Library's own collections.
  • Collaborate with project partners to ensure metadata standards are met.
  • Develop and maintain metadata guidelines and best practices.
Requirements:
  • Extensive experience of working in large-scale projects.
  • Strong background in metadata standards.
  • Experience with structured data.
  • Knowledge of copyright and licensing of digital assets.
  • Experience in managing projects and international programme working.
  • Familiarity with recorded sound and the Europeana Data Model.
