Job Summary

We are seeking a highly motivated and experienced Research Scientist to join our team at Newcastle University. The successful candidate will contribute to our research projects focused on immune regulation and T regulatory cells in osteoclast development.

Key Responsibilities
  • Conduct research in the area of human Treg cell immunology, with a focus on understanding the function of T regulatory cells in osteoclast development.
  • Develop and carry out research projects using appropriate techniques and equipment, with a focus on determining the role of T regulatory cells in controlling tissue repair and regeneration in healthy immune systems, autoimmunity, and cancer.
  • Contribute to grant applications and develop own research objectives and proposals for funding.
  • Assess research findings for the need for further investigations and contribute to the writing up of research for publication and dissemination.
  • Present research findings at conferences and through publications in reputable outlets.
Requirements
  • Good honours degree (or equivalent) with some subject knowledge in the relevant area.
  • A PhD in the research area is required.
  • Experience in 18 colour flow cytometry experiments and analysis, single cell and spatial transcriptomics experiments and analysis, and bioinformatics packages (R studio) relevant to the research within the themes.
  • Knowledge of immune-mediated and skin diseases, including skin cancers.
Desirable
  • Experience of communicating scientific concepts to the public.
  • Involvement in obtaining training grants, PhD Studentships, or fellowships.
