About the Role

Key Responsibilities
  • Develop and execute a comprehensive operations strategy for the UK cluster, aligning with the company's overall business objectives.
  • Lead the development of capable, lean, and efficient operations and supply chain organization across the UK, collaborating closely with sector directors and site teams.
  • Implement lean initiatives across the UK, ensuring continuous strong execution of the PACE ambition and safeguarding necessary capabilities and resources to deliver on the operations strategy.
  • Research and implement the latest techniques of lean manufacturing, challenging sector directors and plant GMs to achieve step-changes in performance.
  • Develop and implement a robust asset management strategy for the UK cluster, including optimization of the manufacturing footprint.
  • Execute project management systems to ensure optimum use of resources, chairing the UK Capital Investment Committee and overseeing projects from conception to post-investment review.
  • Anticipate future Supply Chain/Operations trends and innovations, finding creative methods to reduce the cost of manufacturing while delivering quality products to customers.
  • Maintain positive customer- and supplier relationships, enhancing the performance and reputation of DS Smith.
Requirements and Qualifications
  • Master's degree or equivalent, with MBA or strong business acumen and commercial experience on a senior level.
  • A minimum of 10 years' experience in a senior-level operations role with multisite responsibility.
  • Demonstrated results from independently driving and implementing organizational transformation.
  • Multi-functional/multi-site experience.
  • Ability to deal with stakeholder management internal and external, including customers and authorities.
  • Strong intellect, analytical, and strategic planning skills combined with a commercial outlook.
  • Excellent communication skills, written and verbal, with the ability to clearly demonstrate and explain business performance to various audiences.
Estimated Salary Range

£80,000 - £110,000 per annum, depending on experience.
