About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled and dedicated Career Guidance Specialist to join our team at Portsmouth City Council. As a key member of our Careers and Progression team, you will play a vital role in delivering careers education, information, advice, and guidance to young people across the city.

Key Responsibilities
  • Deliver careers education, information, advice, and guidance in a variety of settings, including schools and community organizations.
  • Provide targeted interventions for young people who are at risk of becoming NEET (Not in Education, Employment, or Training).
  • Work closely with schools, colleges, and other partners to ensure that young people receive the support they need to achieve their career goals.
  • Develop and maintain strong relationships with colleagues, young people, and other stakeholders to ensure effective delivery of services.
  • Manage a caseload of young people and provide regular progress updates to ensure that they are on track to meet their career goals.
Requirements
  • Level 6 Diploma in Career Guidance and Development or equivalent.
  • Experience of delivering careers guidance and/or information and advice to young people, including those who are at risk or vulnerable.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively with young people, colleagues, and other stakeholders.
  • Knowledge of current careers education and guidance theory and practice, including GATSBY benchmarks and safeguarding.
