**Job Title:** Youth Development Support Worker

About the Role:

Polaris Community is seeking a dedicated and compassionate Youth Development Support Worker to join our team in Surrey and West Sussex. As a Residential Childcare Support Worker, you will play a vital role in providing a nurturing environment for young males aged 13-18 years.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide a supportive and motivating atmosphere that caters to individual developmental needs and fosters growth.
  • Develop and implement engaging activities that meet the young people's requirements and stimulate their learning and integration within the home.
  • Maintain awareness of legislation, guidelines, and policies to ensure compliance with the Children's Act, Children's Homes Regulations, and national minimum standards.
  • Monitor and record young people's progress, highlighting achievements, behavior, and significant events in their lives.
  • Collaborate with local authorities to ensure exceptional care for the young people under our supervision.
  • Establish and maintain positive relationships with parents/carers to support young people's development.
  • Be flexible in working practices, including undertaking domestic tasks.
  • Keep accurate and legible records regarding the young people.

Requirements:

  • Previous experience working with teenage boys or challenging behavior is essential.
  • Hold a driving licence and have access to a vehicle.
  • Hold a Residential Childcare/Families Practitioner Diploma or equivalent, or be willing to work towards a required qualification.
  • Be willing to engage young people in activities and support them throughout their time at Apple Orchard.
  • Be adaptable with working hours and able to work a mix of days, evenings, and weekends.
  • Be capable of challenging unacceptable behavior and providing firm boundaries.
  • Maintain policies and procedures.
  • Communicate effectively both verbally and in writing.

Salary: £25,000 - £30,000 per annum, depending on experience.
